About 60 miles from the Valley, it offers the chance to spend a day at the beach in the mountains.

An old Spanish town, Taos is well known as an art colony. Also visit the Taos Indian Pueblo.
Lake Isabel is a beautiful lake in the San Isabel National Forest near Greenhorn Mountain. It's a great place to fish and picnic.
Just outside of Canon City, the Royal Gorge is crossed by the world's highest suspension bridge.
This growing city has great museums, theaters and shopping. Pueblo Reservoir is on the western edge.
From the Garden of the Gods to Pikes Peak, this area has lots to see and do. Also, Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs are full of charm.
Once a gold mining town, it now is one of Colorado's few town where gambling is legal.
