La Veta Mercantile Huerfano Soup

Thu, Feb, 06 2020

One dish + one vote + one passionate community = Huerfano Soup.

Huerfano Soup is a monthly community-based potluck sponsored by Bachman and Associates Real Estate. Through this micro-granting dinner, participants assist a variety of nonprofit projects in Huerfano County.

A potluck item and a $5 donation make you eligible to vote on the evening’s presentations. As a diner, you will hear 3 five-minute pitches from community members who need funding for projects that are beneficial to the community. Enjoy the best $5 dinner in town with your friends, then choose the winning proposal to receive the evening's donations.

Spanish Peaks Wilderness

A.k.a Wahatoya Region

In Southern Colorado, there's an immense area where few go. Some enjoy the Nature, away from the crowded trails and resorts. Some come for the adventure. Some even stay.

What to do?

Follow trails through tall evergreens and quaking aspens. Stand on rock outcroppings and survey the valleys and vistas as they tumble upon each other to the horizon. Sit under a tree and listen...to the songs of the birds, the wind, the trees...the song of the mountains. Relax you're in the Cuchara Valley.
