Thursday, June 11th 7:00-9:00 Karen Choi & Justin Duenne @ Deerprint Wine & Bistro

Jun 11 — Jun 11, 2020

Rooted in the Americana tradition, Karen Choi’s songs explore the common human experience from a rich lyrical perspective. Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Choi was introduced to roots music through her father’s involvement in a local bluegrass band. At thirteen, she was self-taught on guitar and began songwriting as a means of guiding everyday encounters. She is currently living in St. Louis, Missouri where she spends her time raising her three boys and keeping a busy tour and show schedule. Her latest release, ‘Lost County,’ leans into the stylistic freedom of the Americana genre as it scales back the use of bluegrass forward instruments as heard on Choi’s past work.

Justin Duenne is an Americana artist that can be described as Indiana Roots Music. His songs are meaningful representations of love lost and love gained in the pursuit of the harmony between the mystical and mundane. While originally from the Cincinnati, OH area, Justin Duenne now calls Indianapolis home. With influences like Neil Young, Willie Nelson, The Eagles, and Wilco, the sound tends to draw from traditional folk and country music with a contemporary bent.

Spanish Peaks Wilderness

A.k.a Wahatoya Region

In Southern Colorado, there's an immense area where few go. Some enjoy the Nature, away from the crowded trails and resorts. Some come for the adventure. Some even stay.

What to do?

Follow trails through tall evergreens and quaking aspens. Stand on rock outcroppings and survey the valleys and vistas as they tumble upon each other to the horizon. Sit under a tree and listen...to the songs of the birds, the wind, the trees...the song of the mountains. Relax you're in the Cuchara Valley.
