Now in our 14th year, the Spanish Peaks International Celtic Music Festival continues stronger than ever in 2018. A 501(c)(3) organization, the Festival takes place each year over four days in September, with events in La Veta, Walsenburg, and Gardner. This year the Festival will be from September 20-23. In addition, the Spanish Peaks Piping Retreat takes place during the Festival, and can be found at http://sppipers.com.
The festival remains a favorite destination for world-class artists throughout the Celtic world. Certainly the beauty and unique charm of Huerfano (pronounced WHERE-fa-no) County is one reason why, but also the unique format of the Festival is a reason as well. Unique emphasis is placed on both “entertainment” and “education,” with a number of workshops that focus on various instruments and styles, as well as dancing, singing, and storytelling. The intimacy of the Festival allows for the artists and attendees to interact very closely. Not only do artists perform at concerts, but will be found playing later in open sessions in local venues, and teaching workshops the next day! Major concerts take place on each of the four days. The festival is set up to receive payments by credit card, cash, and check.
What also makes the Festival unique is the role that volunteers play. Without the participation of numerous local people the Festival would never have survived. It is a true win-win as volunteering enables volunteers to interact closely with Festival artists, and have access to various events.Contact us whether you are interested in volunteer opportunities or in information about the Festival.
