Francisco Fort Museum

Francisco Fort Museum is an original 1862 adobe plaza! Exhibits featuring artifacts from the entire Huerfano County region, including: Native American cultures, Hispanic legacy, Anglo settlement, ranching, blacksmithing, saloon, log school house, the coal mining era and MORE! The adobe buildings are indeed artifacts themselves, so take a step back in time ...

Self guided tours let you experience the historic site your own way, or ... take a guided tour with an experienced docent to give you 'the rest of the story'. Guided tours vary per visitor, but are typically about an hour in length.

Take time to visit the bookshop which contains a fine collection of books pertaining to Southern Colorado history and culture. Gifts, jewelry, keepsakes all with a local and regional flare, post cards and fine conversation, always found in the bookshop!
